This is a portrait of Robert Wilson. He was an artist who's career spanned the second half of the 20th century. Mr. Wilson is best remembered for his large abstract paintings and vividly colored landscape paintings. Also Mr. Wilson was a Professor of Design at State University of New York College at Buffalo (Buffalo State College). Collections of his works are located around the United States.
This commission was funded by the "Robert And Marilyn Wilson Foundation" and the painting is on public display at Buffalo State College in Upton Hall on the 5th floor. Marilyn Wilson started the foundation in honor of her late husband. The foundation funds an academic scholarship that is awarded annually to one student in the Painting Department. Mrs. Wilson and Painting faculty give the merit award to a student who displays outstanding ability in the Painting Discipline.
